Meet the Founders

Naphtaly and Nereah MattahNaphtaly and Nereah Mattah had a vision to meet the needs of orphans and extremely poor Suba children in Kenya.  They wanted to provide a quality Christian education for these children.  In 2003 this vision became a reality.  They called it, “Gethsemane Garden Christian Centre (GGCC)”.

GGCC is a Christian boarding school providing students with a home during the school year and a Christian education.  It equips them with a firm Biblical foundation for their lives.

The leadership of GGCC hopes to empower these children to break the cycle of poverty and go on to be productive citizens and leaders in Kenya and the world.

Naphtaly has worked as the project leader of a Bible Translation and Literacy project among the Suba people since 1991. He now serves as the technical advisor for the project. Naphtaly graduated with a BA in Technology and Management Studies (Economics minor) and earned his MA in Bible Translation Studies in 2002.

Nereah brings to this project eight years as a high school teacher. She has a Bachelor of Education degree and a Masters degree in Christian education. She is the principal of the Centre.
