Hassaf’s father died in 1995 after being struck by lightening at home. He was a peasant farmer. His mother takes care of her four children as well as their old grandmother who is mentally unstable. Hassaf has chronic malaria. Hassaf’s mother cannot afford three meals a day. She survives by making charcoal and illicit brew, and from donations from friends and relatives. Hassaf lives in his grandmother’s house that was built by GGCC. He is in Grade 2. ID # 433.
